Exactly 12 months after arriving from Liverpool in a British record £50million deal, Torres will run out at Swansea on Tuesday night looking for his first Premier League goal since netting - and then being sent off - against Brendan Rodgers' side on September 24.
Torres' only goals in his subsequent 18 club appearances came in the Champions League win over Genk the following month.
He has since gone 986 minutes in all competitions without a goal.
Villas-Boas said: "At the moment, the fact that he has not scored a league goal in four months is a reality.
"But people shouldn't try to put things in the wrong perspective.
"That is the reality, but he has been helping the team. Fernando has, equally, one of the most assist totals for other players in the club, so he is producing for the others as well."
